Imperial Star will produce well-developed artichokes in the first year being grown from seed. A green artichoke specifically bred for annual production.
Plants have an open growth habit and will get 1 1/2–3' tall. Will typically produce 1-2 primary buds, which average 3-4" in diameter, and 5-7 smaller secondary buds. The bud can be left on the plant to mature into beautiful flowers.
With little protection (some mulch or a semi sheltered area) this plant should over winter in our climate easily.
